SKARDU – Where Earth Touches the Sky

Welcome to “Heaven on Earth”! With a heart-shaped lake and those famous red-roofed cottages, Shangrila is pure magic. Whether you’re sipping tea lakeside or just staring into the reflections, this place will steal your heart (and your phone storage with all the pics you’ll take!).

Shangrila Resort (Lower Kachura Lake)

Known as “Heaven on Earth,” Shangrila has a heart-shaped lake surrounded by red-roofed cottages and blooming gardens. It’s one of Skardu’s most photographed spots.

Whether you’re sipping tea by the lake or wandering the grounds, the peaceful scenery will steal your heart — and fill your camera roll.

Upper Kachura Lake

Less developed and more natural than Lower Kachura, this lake offers a quiet escape. Its deep, clear waters reflect the surrounding mountains perfectly.

A short walk from the road brings you to this calm hideaway, perfect for boating or simply sitting in silence.

Satpara Lake

Bright blue and ringed by mountains, Satpara Lake is both beautiful and practical as it supplies water to Skardu town.

The area is breezy and refreshing — a lovely stop before setting off for jeep rides and nearby treks.

Shigar Fort

This 400-year-old fort, now a boutique hotel, blends history with comfort. Staying here feels like stepping back in time without giving up modern luxuries.

Even if you don’t stay overnight, touring the restored fort offers a glimpse into Baltistan’s royal heritage.

Khaplu Palace

With its carved wooden balconies and stone walls, Khaplu Palace is a masterpiece of Tibetan and Kashmiri architecture.

Sip fresh apricot juice, stroll the gardens, and look over the charming village below — it’s history wrapped in mountain beauty.

Sarfaranga Cold Desert

A desert surrounded by snowy peaks? Welcome to Sarfaranga, where golden sand meets icy winds.

Try a jeep ride, camp under the stars, or just wander barefoot on soft dunes with mountains towering around you.

Deosai National Park

Known as the “Land of Giants,” Deosai is a vast plateau filled with wildflowers, grazing marmots, and sweeping horizons.

Its untouched beauty feels endless — a place to breathe deeply and feel completely free.

Sheosar Lake

Right in the heart of Deosai, this lake offers mirror-like views of Nanga Parbat on a clear day.

Its stillness and high-altitude setting make it one of Pakistan’s most peaceful and photogenic spots.

Manthoka Waterfall

Cascading dramatically into a rocky basin, Manthoka is a cool, refreshing stop surrounded by greenery.

Pack snacks for a picnic — the relaxing sound of rushing water makes it hard to leave.

Basho Valley

Hidden away from crowds, Basho Valley is perfect for camping, hiking, and disconnecting completely.

Streams, pine forests, and open skies give it a peaceful charm that feels far from the busy world.
